At Adifo, our work is never done. We continuously try to update and upgrade our products to give our customers the flexibility and functionality they require. With the release of BESTMIX® Recipe Management 3.34 we once again offer some updated and new functionalities that will make it easier to create, adapt and handle your recipes. Here is an overview.
Processing Aid
Not all substances you use to make your products are consumed as food itself. Some are simply used as processing aids in the production of your food products. Processing aid substances are not expected to be declared in the consumer declaration, unless the substance contains an allergen. Removing a processing aid used to be a manual task that had to be repeated during creation of a product specification. To make the management of processing aids easier and less time-consuming, we’ve added the option to mark declaration groups as processing aid. This can be done at 2 levels:
- In the ingredient: in case the component is always a processing aid
- In the recipe: in case the component is only a processing aid when used in that particular recipe
An additional setting in the template allows you to remove the processing aids from the List of Ingredients, unless it contains an allergen. The allergen can be marked in 3 ways:
- Allergen is assigned to the declaration group
- The checkbox ‘Highlight in declaration’ is checked
- There is a highlight character in the description of the declaration group marking the allergen
Customer Management
Quite often a new recipe is development for a specific customer. BESTMIX Recipe Management 3.34 now offers you a more efficient way to manage customers in recipes.
Assigning customers to a recipe has become a standard feature and the user experience has been improved:
- All recipes (customer specific and general) in one clear overview
- Easier to assign customers to recipe or change customers in a recipe
- Retrieve all recipes from a specific customer
An additional advantage is the possibility to grant access to users for specific recipes by assigning customers to users.
Monitoring variation of nutrient values from ingredients to recipe
When it comes to developing recipes with precise nutrient values, it is interesting to consider the nutritional variability in the ingredients as provided by the suppliers. Using ingredients with high nutritional variability will increase nutritional uncertainty at recipe level.
Working with Lower and Upper Limits at ingredient nutrient level will improve the insight in the nutritional variation at recipe level. These Lower and Upper Limits can also be used as min-max values for regulatory compliance. Compliance check compares recipe nutritional values with allowed Lower and Upper Limits (like from regulations or customer requests).
Side-by-side recipe comparison
In BESTMIX® Recipe Management 3.34 you can easily place random recipes next to each other and compare them based on:
- Composition
- Analysis
- Allergens
- Claims
- Prices
You select whether you want to use a recipe as a reference. This reference is used to show the differences with the other selected recipes. When comparing numerical values, like composition, analysis and price, the deviation is calculated as percentage according to the reference. Additionally, you can put a tolerance on deviation in analysis comparison. Values that are not within an acceptable range are highlighted.
Declaration of nutrients according to nutrition facts requirements
Labeling is a complex process. The nutritional information you print on labels also largely depends on where your products are distributed. Some countries, such as the USA, uphold very strict regulations when it comes to which nutritional information can be displayed. Adifo now offers a solution which allows you to easily modify your labels.
In the new BESTMIX® Recipe Management release it’s easier to design a template with a more flexible layout. You decide which information is shown on your labels. With this latest feature labeling becomes effortless and you are ensured your products comply with USDA food regulations.
