On Tuesday 8 June, the first stone of the new office buildings for software company Adifo NV was laid on the Industrielaan in Maldegem. A milestone in the project that did not go unnoticed. In the presence of a large delegation of all the parties involved, Adifo CEO Gerard Marneth laid the foundation stone. Construction company Vandenbussche, based in Aalter, is responsible for the construction of the new office. The Van Kessel Group is responsible for the project coordination of the building designed by Maldegem architectural firm AIKO.
New chapter for Adifo
For Adifo, it all started back in 1974. It was the year in which the company was founded, a company that, after only a few years, was fully focused on supporting software for producers of animal feed and human food.
“The existing buildings no longer met the modern requirements of an internationally oriented IT company,” says Gerard Marneth, CEO of Adifo. “We wanted to create a professional and inspiring environment for our employees, in which we can also receive our customers in the best possible way. We are very much looking forward to moving into the new offices early next year, in order to continue to focus on innovative software solutions in optimal conditions, to further expand our international operations and to greet our customers in a professional environment.”
Inspiring working environment/Flexibility as an asset
Following the design of Maldegem architectural firm AIKO, Aalter-based contractor Vandenbussche is building the new office building for Adifo. The offices will be spread over 2 floors. An extra floor can be added as the company grows. Flexibility is therefore this building’s greatest asset.
“The construction and techniques are planned in such a way that different divisions and offices can easily be set up to meet the company’s needs. In addition to office spaces, there is an entrance hall, a large canteen with spacious terrace and an event space. It will also be a sustainable building with triple glazing, sun blinds, heat pump and solar panels, etc. Some of the parking spaces in the car park have electric charging points, and the bicycle shed is equipped for the use of electric bicycles. This is to focus as much as possible on a sustainable future with minimal use of fossil fuels,” says Jo Verstraete of Aiko Architects.
Kristof Defruyt, CEO of Vandenbussche: “We ended up working with a construction team formula for this project. Vandenbussche, together with the builder and architect, sought optimisation in the preliminary phase. The builder suggested a very strict timing, which meant we started work while the final design adjustments were still ongoing. But with our ‘We draw your plan’ philosophy, we support the builder in completing their construction project smoothly and without problems, and we always search for the best solution.”
Construction company Vandenbussche started demolishing one of the existing buildings in February 2021. It is now hard at work installing the structure. Thanks to a fast prefabricated concrete system, it will be completed before the construction industry holidays. Delivery is scheduled for March 2022.
Aalter-based construction company Vandenbussche is an accredited class 8 contractor for the new construction and renovation of all types of buildings. The family business is active in apartment and utility construction, both for public and for private clients. Vandenbussche works with the “We Draw Your Plan” concept, taking care of everything from preparatory studies, through the drafting of specifications to final delivery. www.vandenbusschebouw.be
